Chemical health assessment procedure

If you plead guilty to an alcohol-related driving offense, you will be required to submit to a chemical use assessment administered by the county.  The fee for this assessment varies by county.  In the alternative, you may complete a private evaluation that is acceptable to probation and the court.

Our office usually recommends clients get a private chemical assessment from a state certified evaluator that is Rule 25 qualified, and enroll in any recommended treatment program or class before the pre-trial date.

The assessment may include written testing as well as an interview. The evaluator will also contact a collateral source (such as a spouse, relative or roommate) with your permission to confirm the information you give in the interview.

The fee for a private assessment varies but is usually around $250.00. Your health insurance may cover the cost of the assessment. However, you should be aware that the chemical health assessment may become part of your private medical record if you go through your health insurer.

We recommend the following state certified evaluators:

952-888-7010

Fran Jackson
66 Ninth Street East, Suite 2114
